Vinted Shoppers Voice Anger About Sizing Modifications
Members of the platform have expressed outrage after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its measurement guidelines for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Reaction
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category than originally posted because of the remapping.
Vinted explained the revised method more closely matches comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to examine their items and update the measurements by hand if necessary, which has left users frustrated.
Size Classification Updates
Previously, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The revised method features a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Stories
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, explained the modification "makes transactions more difficult".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Stephanie Gallen, from Glasgow, stated items she posted featuring size 14 markings were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"If buyers measuring 20-22 acquire them they will likely be quite upset," she stated.
Manual Updates
A different user, located in England, stated she felt frustrated by the change as she had to manually change the measurements for "each individual item".
"For me this is particularly frustrating, because of my ongoing medical condition and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she stated.
Service Background
The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update within the service has received backlash: earlier, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
